Sonipat, 28th Dec. An awareness program on the PM Vishwakarma scheme was held by the MSME-Development Office, Karnal, Government of India (Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) on December 27, 2023, at GVM Girls College, Murthal Road, Sonipat.
The chief guest for the program was Mohanlal Badoli, MLA, Rai Assembly Constituency, District Sonipat.
To begin the program, Sanjeev Chawla, Director of MSME DFO, Karnal, welcomed all the guests and presented a video explaining the PM Vishwakarma Scheme and its various components. He also explained the registration process and on-boarding of Gram Panchayat/Urban Local Body.
The objective of the awareness program was to provide information about the assistance provided by the Government of India for the development of traditional artisans.
The scheme is based on three pillars: Sammaan, Samarthya, and Samriddhi.
During his speech, the Chief Guest, Mohanlal Badoli, MLA, Rai Assembly Constituency, District Sonipat, encouraged all artisans in Haryana state to register and take advantage of the benefits offered by the scheme.
Dr. Ishita Ganguli Tripathy, Additional Development Commissioner, representing the Ministry of MSME, informed that the scheme was launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister on September 17, 2023.
Under this scheme, artisans will receive a tool kit worth up to Rs 15,000 and a loan of up to Rs 3 lakh without collateral at 5% interest. They will also receive free skill training with a daily allowance of Rs 500, marketing assistance, and a certificate and artisan identity card.
Dr. Tripathy also highlighted that 55% of overall enrollment in the scheme is comprised of women and encouraged everyone to take advantage of the scheme to become self-reliant and establish their own enterprises.
The program also included addresses by Rakesh Kadyan, City Project Officer (Urban Local Body) Sonipat, and Paramveer Saini & Dinesh Swami on behalf of the district administration.
During the program, 10 stalls were set up by the CSC Centre.
18 different categories of artisans, such as carpenters, blacksmiths, goldsmiths, potters, cobblers, masons, barbers, washermen, and tailors, were registered on the spot and informed about the benefits available to them under the PM Vishwakarma scheme.
The vote of thanks was given by V.P. Singh Walia, Joint Director, District MSME Centre, Sonipat. Several other officials from the MSME department were also present. Approximately 300 artisans participated in the program.
