Prime Minister Narendra Modi has received a special honour from America. He has been honoured with ‘Legion of Merit’. President Donald Trump has given this special honour to PM Narendra Modi for enhancing Indo-US strategic partnership.
Indian ambassador to US Taranjit Singh Sandhu accepted this honour on behalf of PM Narendra Modi from the US National Security Advisor Robert O’Brien. The Ministry of External Affairs said that the award recognises the emergence of India as a global power under the leadership of PM Modi.
The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the Legion of Merit is a prestigious award given by the US President to the heads of state or the heads of government of other countries. Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison and former Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe have been honoured with this award earlier.
