New Delhi, 18th June. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a significant two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, marking his first trip to the region in his third term.

Scheduled to coincide with the 10th International Yoga Day celebrations, PM Modi will participate in a youth program and lead a yoga session on the banks of Dal Lake, a symbolic gesture aimed at the international community.

The visit holds political weight following the recent general election in the Union Territory and is seen as a strategic move amidst ongoing preparations for the upcoming assembly polls. It also aims to bolster confidence amid security concerns post Article 370 abrogation and recent terrorist activities in the region.

Jammu and Kashmir, reorganized into two Union Territories in 2019, awaits its first assembly elections under the new delimitation order, setting the stage for significant political developments in the region. PM Modi’s visit reflects the government’s commitment to peace and development in the region, amid expectations of statehood restoration post-election.
