PM Modi to Attend All India Conference of Police Chiefs on Nov 30

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the All India Conference of Director Generals and Inspector Generals of Police (DGPs/IGPs) 2024, scheduled from November 30 to December 1 at the State Convention Centre, Lok Seva Bhawan, Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

The three-day conference, which began today, will focus on key aspects of national security, including counter-terrorism, Left-Wing Extremism, coastal security, narcotics, and the implementation of new criminal laws. A highlight of the event will be the presentation of the President’s Police Medal for distinguished service.

The platform aims to encourage open discussions among senior police professionals and security administrators on various issues, including crime control, law and order management, and internal security threats. The deliberations will also focus on professional practices and innovative approaches to tackle challenges in policing and security.

The Prime Minister, known for his proactive engagement with the conference since 2014, has introduced unique features to ensure meaningful dialogue. Activities include yoga sessions, business discussions, breakout sessions, and thematic dining arrangements, providing participants with ample opportunities to present their ideas and suggestions directly to him.

Since 2014, the annual DGP/IGP Conference has been organized across different locations, including Guwahati, the Rann of Kachchh, Hyderabad, Tekanpur, the Statue of Unity in Kevadiya, Pune, Lucknow, New Delhi, and Jaipur. This year, Bhubaneswar hosts the 59th edition of the conference, continuing the tradition of rotating venues to bring diverse regional perspectives.

The conference will be attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Principal Secretary to the PM, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, Ministers of State for Home Affairs, DGPs of States and Union Territories, and heads of Central Police Organisations.
