On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a strong case for self-reliance in technology-related sectors, which play an important role in last-mile delivery of services and have enormous job-creation potential.
During a webinar on ‘Technology-enabled Development,’ the prime minister stated that science and technology were not isolated sectors since they were intertwined with the digital economy and based on advanced technology, which is now focusing on fast delivery and citizen empowerment.
Modi stated that telecommunications in general and 5G technology in particular, can promote growth and create jobs.
Spectrum auctions will also be held in 2022 to allow the rollout of 5G mobile services in 2022-23, according to the prime minister.
Infrastructure advancement is linked to technological advancement; even public delivery systems are becoming linked to digital platforms. Technology would be critical in achieving Aatmanirbhar Bharat, he said in a webinar attended by representatives from several government ministries as well as the commercial sector.
Modi emphasized the importance of accelerating efforts to introduce new technology in the telecom sector.
The server should be based in India, with minimal reliance on foreign countries. According to the prime minister, new security perspectives are being introduced in the communication sector.
He stated that the government’s new efforts must emphasize self-reliance’ through technology.
According to the Prime Minister, the budget 2022-23 has placed a strong emphasis on emerging sectors such as AI, geospatial systems, drones, semiconductors, genomics, space technology, and clean technology.
