PM Modi Praises Mohammed Shami at UP Rally

Amroha, 20th April.
 During an election rally in Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi commended Team India fast bowler Mohammed Shami.

PM Modi highlighted Shami’s outstanding performance in the Cricket World Cup, stating that the entire world had witnessed his remarkable achievements.

The central government recognized Shami’s excellence in sports by awarding him the Arjuna Award.

PM Modi also acknowledged the efforts of Yogi Adityanath’s government in promoting sports, mentioning the construction of a stadium for the youth in the region. He congratulated the people of Amroha for this initiative.

Shami, who took seven wickets in the World Cup semi final against New Zealand, is currently sidelined from the Indian Premier League (IPL) due to a left ankle injury.

Additionally, PM Modi praised the traditional dholak instrument of Amroha, describing the region as a place with historical significance, including connections to Lord Shri Krishna.

PM Modi highlighted the bravery of individuals like Raja Gaj Singh and Thakur Jairam Singh from Amroha.

He emphasized the cultural importance of the dholak in the region and credited Yogi Adityanath’s government for obtaining the Geographical Indication (GI) tag for Amroha’s dholak, giving it global recognition.

The second phase of voting in Uttar Pradesh, covering eight parliamentary constituencies including Amroha, is scheduled for April 26.

The main electoral battle in Amroha is between Kanwar Singh Tanwar of the BJP, Kunwar Danish Ali of the Congress, and BSP’s Mujahid Husain, with a total of 12 candidates contesting from the region.
