PM Modi Meets Kuwait’s Crown Prince and PM to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

Kuwait, 22nd Dec. Prime Minister Narendra Modi held important discussions with His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, the Crown Prince of Kuwait, today, reaffirming India’s commitment to its strategic relationship with Kuwait. The meeting followed a prior interaction between the two leaders on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session in September 2024.

The Prime Minister conveyed India’s dedication to deepening bilateral relations, which have been progressing well. Both leaders expressed their satisfaction with the ongoing cooperation and announced the elevation of their ties to a Strategic Partnership. They also emphasized close coordination between the two nations at multilateral platforms, including the UN. Prime Minister Modi expressed his confidence that under Kuwait’s Presidency, relations within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) would further flourish.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi invited His Highness the Crown Prince to visit India at a mutually convenient time. Following the talks, the Crown Prince hosted a banquet in honor of the Prime Minister.

In a separate engagement, Prime Minister Modi met with His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the Prime Minister of Kuwait. The two leaders held discussions on enhancing the strategic partnership in various sectors, including political, trade, defense, energy, security, health, education, and technology. They also explored opportunities to strengthen economic ties, with particular emphasis on sectors like energy, defense, pharma, and medical devices.

To advance cooperation, Prime Minister Modi invited a delegation from Kuwait’s Investment Authority to visit India and explore opportunities in these sectors. The leaders also discussed collaboration in traditional medicine and agricultural research.

During the talks, several agreements were signed, including a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Defense Cooperation, a Cultural Exchange Programme, an Executive Program on Cooperation in Sports, and a Framework Agreement for Kuwait’s participation in the International Solar Alliance.

Prime Minister Modi also invited the Kuwaiti Prime Minister to visit India, further cementing the strong ties between the two nations.
