New Delhi, 15t June.
A selfie and video featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni during the ongoing G7 summit have captured attention on social media. The photo, taken by Meloni on Friday at the summit in Italy’s Apulia, shows the two leaders smiling warmly. In the accompanying video, they are seen waving at the camera, with Meloni greeting viewers with “Hello from the Melodi team.”

The term “Melodi” gained popularity on social media following PM Modi and Meloni’s bilateral meeting last year. Meloni had previously shared a selfie of their meeting during the COP28 climate summit in Dubai, captioned “Good friends at COP28. #Melodi.”

During their meeting on the sidelines of the G7 summit, PM Modi and Ms. Meloni discussed bilateral relations. Ms. Meloni congratulated PM Modi on his re-election and they expressed satisfaction with the strengthening political dialogue between India and Italy. They also reviewed progress in the India-Italy Strategic Partnership, emphasizing enhanced trade and economic collaboration, particularly in clean energy, manufacturing, space technology, telecom, AI, and critical minerals.

Both leaders welcomed the recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Industrial Property Rights (IPR), which facilitates cooperation on patents, designs, and trademarks. They also discussed opportunities for deepening defence and security cooperation and enhancing defence industrial collaboration.
