New Delhi— Prime Minister Narendra Modi today welcomed U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance and his family in New Delhi, marking a warm reaffirmation of the growing India-U.S. strategic partnership. Accompanied by Second Lady Usha Vance, their children, and senior U.S. officials, the Vice President is on a high-level visit that continues the momentum set during the leaders’ meeting in Paris earlier this year.
Reflecting on his successful trip to Washington D.C. in February, Prime Minister Modi recalled his productive talks with U.S. President Donald Trump. He emphasized the synergy between President Trump’s ‘Make America Great Again’ vision and India’s ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ roadmap, laying the foundation for deeper cooperation across multiple sectors.
During the meeting, both leaders reviewed key developments in the bilateral relationship and expressed satisfaction at the progress in several areas. Notably, they welcomed the advancement of negotiations on a mutually beneficial India-U.S. Bilateral Trade Agreement. They also acknowledged ongoing efforts to bolster cooperation in energy, defence, and strategic technologies.
The two leaders also discussed regional and global issues of mutual concern, reiterating the importance of dialogue and diplomacy to resolve challenges in the international arena.
Prime Minister Modi extended his best wishes to Vice President Vance, Second Lady Usha Vance, and their children for a pleasant and productive stay in India. He also conveyed warm greetings to President Trump and expressed eagerness to welcome him to India later this year.
