PM Modi Honoured with ‘Honorary Order of Freedom of Barbados’ Award

New Delhi- Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his gratitude to the Government and people of Barbados for conferring upon him the prestigious ‘Honorary Order of Freedom of Barbados’ award. He dedicated the honour to India’s 1.4 billion citizens and the strong bilateral ties between India and Barbados.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi acknowledged the recognition, stating:

“Grateful to the Government and the people of Barbados for this honour. Dedicate the ‘Honorary Order of Freedom of Barbados’ Award to the 1.4 billion Indians and to the close relations between India and Barbados.”

The award is a significant gesture of appreciation from Barbados, recognizing India’s growing global leadership and its deepening ties with Caribbean nations. Barbados’ President Dame Sandra Mason and Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley have been strong advocates of strengthening Indo-Barbadian cooperation across trade, healthcare, and technology sectors.

India has been a key development partner for Barbados, providing medical aid, vaccines, and technical support, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. The honour further cements the historic friendship and diplomatic cooperation between the two nations.
