PM Modi Congratulates Prof. Muhammad Yunus on New Role, Calls for Return to Normalcy in Bangladesh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his congratulations to Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus, following his appointment as chief advisor to Bangladesh’s newly-formed interim government.

In a statement posted on X, Prime Minister Modi expressed his support for Yunus and conveyed hopes for a swift return to stability in Bangladesh, particularly concerning the safety and security of Hindus and other minority communities in the country.

“My best wishes to Professor Muhammad Yunus on the assumption of his new responsibilities,” said Modi. “We hope for an early return to normalcy, ensuring the safety and protection of Hindus and all other minority communities. India remains committed to working with Bangladesh to fulfill the shared aspirations of both our peoples for peace, security, and development.”
