PM Modi Congratulates Nagaland on 25 Years of Hornbill Festival

New Delhi, 5th Dec. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday congratulated the people of Nagaland on the completion of 25 years of the iconic Hornbill Festival. Expressing his best wishes, the Prime Minister also highlighted the festival’s emphasis on waste management and sustainability, calling it a commendable initiative.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister shared his appreciation for the ongoing festivities and encouraged citizens to visit the festival. He also recalled his own visit to the festival in previous years, describing it as an enriching experience.

“My best wishes for the ongoing Hornbill Festival and congratulations to the people of Nagaland on this lively festival completing 25 years. I am also glad to see the focus on waste management and sustainability during this year’s festival. I have fond memories from my own visit to this Festival a few years ago, and I urge others to visit it and experience the vibrancy of Naga culture,” PM Modi said, sharing a post by Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.

The Hornbill Festival, a celebration of the rich cultural heritage of the Naga people, continues to draw visitors from around the world. The festival’s sustainability efforts this year are seen as a step towards promoting environmental awareness while celebrating Naga traditions.
