New Delhi, 6th May: Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated his Australian counterpart Anthony Albanese on Tuesday for securing a historic second term as Australia’s 32nd Prime Minister. The two leaders spoke over the phone and shared warm sentiments, reflecting the growing friendship between the two Indo-Pacific nations.
During their conversation, PM Modi highlighted the achievements made under the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP), noting how it has grown stronger across sectors like trade, defence, technology, and education in just five years. Both leaders praised the role of the Indian diaspora in Australia, whose contributions continue to serve as a strong bridge between the two countries.
The leaders also exchanged views on current regional and global developments, agreeing to work together for a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific, based on rules and mutual respect.
PM Modi extended a cordial invitation to PM Albanese to visit India later this year, for both the Annual Bilateral Summit and the QUAD Summit. The two leaders expressed enthusiasm about meeting in person again and continuing their efforts to take the bilateral relationship to new heights.
