Piyush Goyal Urges Industry to Lead on Sustainability, Innovation at Vibrant Buildcon 2025

New Delhi– Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Sunday made a powerful appeal to India’s construction and infrastructure sector: embrace sustainability, aim high, and help shape the future. Speaking at CAPEXIL’s Vibrant Buildcon 2025, Goyal encouraged stakeholders to adopt global best practices, focus on clean and green construction, and reduce dependence on imports.

“This is our moment to lead,” he said, addressing a packed hall. “From earthquake-resistant structures to modular designs, we must build not just for today—but for generations to come.”

Goyal pointed to India’s growing strength in the sector, from the rise of Global Capability Centres (GCCs) to robust domestic manufacturing powered by Make in India. Every part of the ecosystem matters, he stressed—whether it’s cement, electricals, automation, or security systems.

He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for fast-tracking world-class infrastructure even during the pandemic, citing examples like Bharat Mandapam and Yashobhoomi—venues that have already hosted major events like the G20 Summit and Startup Mahakumbh.

Looking ahead, the minister highlighted ambitious government plans:

  • 20 new smart industrial cities
  • Enhanced tourism infrastructure at 50 destinations
  • 100 new industrial plug-and-play hubs

“If we want to grow from a $4 trillion economy to $30–35 trillion by 2047, we must all be part of the journey to Viksit Bharat,” he said, urging businesses and citizens alike to play their part.

Calling Vibrant Buildcon the start of a larger transformation, Goyal said, “We’re breaking silos, bringing ideas together, and reimagining how India builds.”

He also took a moment to reflect on the spirit of Baisakhi, praising the determination of India’s farmers during the pandemic. “Despite global disruptions, India kept its promise to feed the nation—month after month,” he said, crediting PM Modi’s leadership for ensuring uninterrupted food supply during the crisis.

Drawing a link between food security and infrastructure development, Goyal noted that events like Vibrant Buildcon showcase India’s readiness for urban expansion, housing for all, and efficient logistics. “This is how we attract global investment and cut logistics costs,” he explained.

In his closing message, Goyal struck an optimistic tone. “Let’s aim for the audacious. Let’s make sure our workers are treated with dignity and paid fairly. Let’s innovate without limits. The world is watching—and India is ready to lead,” he said.
