“People Are My Only Party”: Ajit Pawar Appeals for Support Amid Allegations and Political Challenges

Mumbai, 5th July.
Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has reached out to the public, urging their backing amidst ongoing allegations and political challenges.

Addressing concerns about corruption charges, Pawar asserted that no allegations against him have been substantiated. In a video message, he reaffirmed his commitment to the people, declaring, “People are my only party. Their welfare is my top priority in everything I do.”

Pawar’s message comes amidst speculation of discontent within the Mahayuti alliance, which includes BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP, following disappointing results in the recent Lok Sabha elections. The alliance secured only 17 seats out of Maharashtra’s 48, with BJP’s tally dropping to nine from the previous 23.

Defending the state budget recently presented in the legislature, Pawar criticized detractors for hindering development progress and accused them of engaging in “dirty politics.” He emphasized the importance of voting for leaders based on their actions rather than mere rhetoric, noting that those who actively work for the people often face heightened criticism.

Ajit Pawar, known for his political maneuvers, had previously aligned with BJP and Shiv Sena in July 2024, leading to a rift with his uncle Sharad Pawar and a subsequent rebranding of his faction within NCP as NCP (SP).
