New Delhi, 2nd Nov. The winter session of the Parliament will commence on November 25 and is set to continue until December 20, parliamentary sources confirmed on Saturday. This session is expected to see robust discussions on pressing issues, including the contentious ‘One Nation, One Election’ proposal and the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024.

Home Minister Amit Shah, addressing a rally in Gurgaon’s Badshahpur area, hinted at the government’s determination to pass the Waqf (Amendment) Bill during the winter session. “We are committed to fixing the Waqf board law in the upcoming session,” Shah stated, underscoring the government’s aim to address longstanding concerns related to the governance and accountability of Waqf properties.

The ‘One Nation, One Election’ proposal, aimed at synchronizing state and national elections to reduce logistical and financial burdens, is likely to spark a spirited debate among lawmakers, given its far-reaching implications on India’s federal structure.

The winter session holds particular importance as the government prepares to address key legislative reforms, paving the way for anticipated changes in electoral and religious property governance frameworks.
