Rampur: Senior Congress leader and Amethi MP Kishori Lal Sharma arrived at Rampur railway station on Saturday evening via the Rajya Rani Express from Lucknow at 7 PM. His arrival was met with a rousing reception by Congress workers, who greeted him with energetic slogans and traditional drumbeats.
Speaking briefly to the media at the station, Sharma launched a scathing attack on the Central government, accusing it of undermining democratic institutions. “The Modi government has reduced Parliament to a mere formality. By disregarding parliamentary procedures, it is crushing the soul of democracy. Unconstitutional bills are being passed by stifling the voice of the opposition, thereby endangering the dignity of the Parliament,” he stated.
Also addressing the press, Uttarakhand Congress President Karan Mehra criticised the BJP-led state government, saying, “The people of Uttarakhand are fed up with the anti-people policies of the BJP. In the upcoming assembly elections, the Congress will emerge as a strong alternative. We are strengthening our grassroots organisation and equipping our workers with modern technical training and strategic tools.”
Several senior Congress leaders and workers from both Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh were present to welcome Sharma. Notable attendees included Surendra Sharma (AICC Secretary and Uttarakhand Congress Co-incharge), Himanshu Gawa (President, District Congress Udham Singh Nagar), Pramil Kumar Sharma ‘Nikku Pandit’ (District Congress President), Muti Ur Rehman ‘Bablu’ (AICC Member), Bakar Ali Khan alias Harun Khan (City Congress President), Sharib Ali Khan (UPC Member), Arslan Khan (Provincial General Secretary, Youth Congress), Umesh Dubey (District President, INTUC), Sahir Ali Khan, Amir Qureshi, Haji Najish, Adnan Khan, Mani Kapoor, Waris Miyan, Arif Alvi (District Youth Congress President), Jameel Miyan, Wajahat Ali, Wajahat Khan, Asif Khan, Kaleem Ahmad, Salar Ur Rehman, and hundreds of enthusiastic Congress supporters.
