New Delhi, 19th August. On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, Delhi-based women refugees from Pakistan tied Rakhi to Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal. The event, held on Monday, marked a celebration of the festival with special significance for these beneficiaries of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
Minister Goyal also observed Raksha Bandhan with Sadhvi Rithambara and Brahmakumari sisters. During the celebrations, Goyal emphasized the importance of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act in ensuring safety and security for migrants who have obtained Indian nationality under the CAA.
“The Citizenship (Amendment) Act has granted the respect and safety that you rightfully deserve,” Goyal stated, highlighting that this Raksha Bandhan was one of the most memorable for him.
He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s strong leadership for the successful implementation of the CAA, which has allowed these women to secure Indian citizenship.
