Over 500 COVID-19 cases have been recorded in Delhi; no RT-PCR is required for domestic air travel

In the last 24 hours, India recorded 1,247 coronavirus infections, with the capital Delhi recording 501 COVID-19 cases on Monday.

The virus positivity rate in Delhi increased to 7.72 percent on Monday, up from 4.21 percent on Sunday. The virus has claimed the lives of 26,160 people in India’s capital.

Noida, a Delhi suburb, recorded 65 new COVID-19 cases after the Uttar Pradesh state government made wearing face masks in public places mandatory. Last Friday, 366 COVID-19 cases were reported in Delhi, with a positivity rate of 3.95 percent.
According to India’s health ministry, the number of active cases has risen to 11,860, with 318 new cases reported in the last 24 hours, and the national daily positivity rate is 0.31 percent.

Meanwhile, Jyotiraditya Scindia, India’s civil aviation minister, stated that RT-PCR is no longer required for domestic travel; however, he added that state governments can impose the rule if COVID-19 cases increase.

Scindia went on to say that the aviation ministry had worked with the health ministry to create vaccination certificates.

The daily passenger threshold of 4 lakh was crossed on Monday, according to the aviation minister, who called it a “historic day for the civil aviation ministry.”
