Dhar, 22nd June. A shocking video circulating on social media has ignited widespread condemnation after capturing a brutal assault on a woman in the Tanda area of Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district. The distressing footage shows several men mercilessly beating the victim with a stick while bystanders filmed the incident instead of intervening to help.
Local authorities promptly responded to the alarming video, with the Dhar police launching an immediate investigation. “As soon as the video went viral, my team took cognisance of the matter and launched a probe. We identified the area where the incident occurred,” stated Manoj Kumar Singh, Superintendent of Police, Dhar.
The investigation quickly led to the apprehension of the main suspect, identified as Nirsingh from Kokri Thana Gandhwani. Nirsingh has been taken into custody, and efforts are ongoing to locate and arrest the other individuals involved in the assault.
“This act of violence is reprehensible, and we are committed to ensuring justice for the victim,” asserted Superintendent Singh.
The incident has drawn heightened scrutiny as it unfolded in the hometown of newly appointed Union Minister Savitri Thakur. While the minister has not issued an official statement, the assault has underscored the urgent need for stricter measures to prevent such atrocities against women.
This incident follows a series of violent incidents in Madhya Pradesh, including the recent case where an elderly Dalit couple in Ashok Nagar district was allegedly assaulted, further highlighting concerns over women’s safety and the enforcement of law and order in the state.
