OROP Tribute to Courage and Sacrifice of Our Veterans: PM Modi

New Delhi, 7th Nov. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday commemorated a decade since the implementation of the One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme, hailing it as a tribute to the courage and sacrifices of India’s veterans and ex-service personnel. He emphasized that the OROP initiative, a longstanding demand of the armed forces, underlines the government’s commitment to the welfare of the nation’s defenders.

Posting on social media platform X, PM Modi highlighted the impact of OROP, stating, “The decision to implement OROP was a significant step towards addressing this long-standing demand and reaffirming our nation’s gratitude to our heroes.” He noted that since its inception, OROP has benefited countless veterans and their families, enhancing their pensions and providing greater security.

OROP ensures that retired armed forces personnel of the same rank and length of service receive the same pension, regardless of their retirement date. The Prime Minister reiterated the government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the welfare of armed forces personnel, adding that OROP symbolizes this dedication.
