Jaipur, 18th August. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar underscored the profound importance of organ donation, describing it as “a spiritual activity and the highest moral exemplification of human nature.”

Speaking at an event organized by the Jain Social Groups (JSG) Central Sansthan, Jaipur, and the Dadhichi Deh Dan Samiti, Delhi, Dhankhar emphasized that organ donation is more than an act of physical generosity; it reflects the deepest virtues of compassion and selflessness.

Addressing families of body donors in Jaipur, the Vice President urged citizens to make a conscious effort towards organ donation, turning it into a mission aligned with the noble tradition of serving humanity. He highlighted the theme of World Organ Donation Day, “Be the Reason for Someone’s Smile Today,” encouraging individuals and families to commit to this noble cause.

Quoting ancient wisdom, “इदम्शरीरम्परमार्थसाधनम्!” Dhankhar highlighted the significance of the human body as a tool for achieving greater societal good, stating, “When you assist individuals in need of an organ, you transform them from a liability into an asset for society.”

Dhankhar expressed concern over the growing commercialization in organ donation, warning that it should not become a field for exploiting the vulnerable for financial gain. He referred to the medical profession as a “godly profession” and acknowledged the selfless service of healthcare workers during the COVID pandemic, while condemning those who misuse organ donation for profit. “We cannot allow organ donation to be an exploitation field of the vulnerable for commercial gain,” he stressed.

Reflecting on India’s cultural heritage of selfless service, Shri Dhankhar urged citizens to draw inspiration from scriptures and Vedic knowledge. He also cautioned against allowing political differences to overshadow national interest, emphasizing the need to educate the younger generation about past threats to democracy, particularly the Emergency, to prevent history from repeating itself.

In his address, the Vice President also called upon corporates, trade associations, and business leaders to promote local products and limit imports to items of necessity, strengthening India’s self-reliance.
