Bhubaneswar, 6th Oct. The Odisha government has regularised the services of 9,200 junior teachers working in primary and upper primary schools under the Samagra Shiksha scheme, according to an official statement. The decision, announced by the School and Mass Education Department on Saturday, was communicated to the Director of Elementary Education.
As per the state’s career advancement policy, junior teachers, also known as Sikshya Sahayaks and contractual junior teachers, have been regularised in the Level-V (A) elementary teachers cadre after completing six years of continuous and satisfactory service. However, the government clarified that untrained junior teachers and those who have not passed the Odisha Teachers’ Eligibility Test (OTET) will not be eligible for regularisation.
In a separate development on Saturday, the state also issued appointment letters to 16,009 newly recruited junior teachers for primary and upper primary schools under various schemes. Chief Minister Mohan Majhi personally handed over some of these appointment letters during a ceremony at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, which was attended by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
