Odisha BJP Govt Announces Major Bureaucratic Reshuffle, Appoints New Collectors for 20 Districts

In a significant bureaucratic shake-up, the BJP-led government in Odisha has appointed new district collectors for 20 out of the 30 districts. The move comes following the BJP’s rise to power in the state in June, replacing officials who were previously appointed during the BJD administration.

According to a notification from the General Administration and Public Grievance Department issued on Wednesday night, notable appointments include Smruti Ranjan Pradhan, who has been transferred from Gajapati to Kendrapara, and Parul Patawari, an IAS officer of the 2015 batch, now serving as the collector for Rayagada. Amrit Ruturaj will assume charge as the collector of Kandhamal, while Siddeshwar Baliram Bondar has been appointed as the collector of Sambalpur.

Other key appointments are:

  • Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde as Cuttack collector
  • Hema Kanta Say for Mayurbhanj
  • P Anvesha Reddy for Jajpur
  • Ashish Ishwar Patil for Malkangiri
  • Somesh Kumar Upadhyay for Dhenkanal
  • Dilip Routrai for Bhadrak
  • Bijay Kumar Dash for Gajapati
The new collectors for remaining districts include Subhankar Mohapatra (Nabarangpur), Suryawanshi Mayur Vikas (Balasore), J Sonal (Jagatsinghpur), Pawar Sachin Prakash (Kalahandi), Akshay Sunil Agrawal (Nayagarh), Manoj Satyawan Mahajan (Sundargarh), Kabindra Kumar Sahu (Deogarh), Madhusudan Dash (Nuapada), and Subrat Kumar Panda (Boudh).

In addition to district-level appointments, several senior officials have been reassigned: Swadha Dev Singh has been named additional secretary of the Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water Department, while Bijay Ketan Upadhyaya will lead the Odia Language, Literature & Culture Department and Odisha Paribar. Ashish Thakare has been appointed secretary of the Board of Revenue, Odisha, Kamal Lochan Mishra is the new executive director of the Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA), and Nikhil Pavan Kalyan will serve as the director of Soil Conservation and Watershed Development.
