New Delhi, 5th March.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted a series of raids at various locations across Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and five other states in connection with a case involving the radicalisation of prisoners by a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorist, said an official source.

The anti-terror agency executed search operations at 17 different sites, all linked to suspects associated with the case.

The investigation was initiated after the Bengaluru City Police registered a case last year, prompted by the seizure of arms and ammunition, including pistols, hand grenades, and walkie-talkies. Initially, five individuals were apprehended, with subsequent investigations leading to the arrest of one more person, bringing the total number of arrests to six.

The NIA assumed control of the case in October last year and had previously conducted raids. The primary accused, T Naseer, allegedly an LeT operative and the mastermind behind the radicalisation, has been incarcerated in Bengaluru’s Central Prison since 2013.

Naseer reportedly influenced and recruited the other accused, including Junaid Ahmed, who is currently evading arrest.

The NIA statement from last year implicated Naseer in radicalising and enlisting individuals to carry out violent terror activities.

The other accused, namely Mohammed Umar, Mohammed Faisal Rabbani, Tanveer Ahmed, Mohammed Farooq, and Junaid Ahmed, were all reportedly influenced by Naseer during their confinement in Bengaluru Prison in 2017.
