New Generation Ballistic Missile Agni-Prime Successfully Tested Off Odisha Coast

Bhubaneswar, 5th April. 
The Strategic Forces Command (SFC), in collaboration with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), achieved a significant milestone with the successful flight test of the New Generation Ballistic Missile Agni-Prime. The test took place from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha at approximately 1900 hrs on April 3, 2024.

The launch, which met all trial objectives, demonstrated the reliable performance of Agni-Prime. Data collected from various range sensors, including those deployed on downrange ships positioned at the terminal point, confirmed the missile’s effectiveness. The event was attended by the Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of Strategic Forces Command, and senior officials from DRDO and the Indian Army.

Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh extended his congratulations to DRDO, SFC, and the Armed Forces for the successful test. He emphasized that the development and deployment of Agni-Prime will significantly enhance the capabilities of the Indian Armed Forces as a force multiplier.

General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff, and Dr. Samir V Kamat, Secretary of the Department of Defence Research and Development and Chairman of DRDO, commended the collaborative efforts of SFC and DRDO in achieving the successful flight test. The successful development and integration of Agni-Prime mark a significant step forward in India’s missile technology and defense capabilities.
