Ranchi, 14th Oct. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Monday that the seat-sharing arrangement among NDA partners for the upcoming Jharkhand assembly elections is “almost final.”
Speaking after a BJP election committee meeting, Sarma, who is overseeing the elections, stated that the first list of candidates would be released within 48 hours of the Election Commission’s announcement of the poll schedule.
Sarma shared that the Sudesh Mahto-led AJSU Party is set to contest 9-11 seats. “The talks are almost finalized, with only one seat left to resolve, which we aim to settle by Tuesday,” he said. Additionally, the JD(U), led by Nitish Kumar, is expected to field candidates in two constituencies. Discussions with LJP (Ram Vilas) will occur later in the week after Chirag Paswan returns from abroad.
He noted that candidates for most seats have been chosen, with decisions on five or six remaining constituencies to be made soon. A follow-up election committee meeting and a BJP parliamentary board meeting are also scheduled.
The elections to the 81-member Jharkhand assembly are due as the current term expires on January 5, 2025.
