New Delhi, 26th March.
The National Commission for Women (NCW) wrote to the Election Commission on Monday, urging them to take strict action against Congress leaders Supriya Shrinate and H S Ahir for their disrespectful comments towards actress Kangana Ranaut, who is the BJP candidate from the Mandi Lok Sabha seat.

Shrinate’s Instagram post, which contained offensive remarks about Ranaut, has been removed from her account. Ahir, the state joint co-ordinator of Kisan Congress, also made derogatory comments about her.

NCW Chairperson Rekha Sharma has written to the Election Commission, requesting action against Shrinate and Ahir.

“The National Commission for Women is shocked by the inappropriate behavior of Ms. Supriya Shrinate and Mr. H.S. Ahir, who made disrespectful comments about @KanganaTeam on social media. This kind of conduct is unacceptable and goes against the dignity of women. @sharmarekha has sent a letter to the Election Commissioner of India, urging immediate and strict action against them. Let’s uphold respect and dignity for all women,” the NCW stated in a post with the hashtag #RespectWomen.

Ranaut also criticized Shrinate, stating that every woman deserves dignity.

“Dear Supriya ji, in my 20-year career as an artist, I have portrayed various roles of women. From a naive girl in Queen to a seductive spy in Dhaakad, from a goddess in Manikarnika to a demon in Chandramukhi, from a prostitute in Rajjo to a revolutionary leader in Thalaivii,” Ranaut tweeted.

Shrinate explained that multiple people have access to her Facebook and Instagram accounts, and someone made an inappropriate post without her knowledge.

“As soon as I became aware of it, I deleted the post. Those who know me well are aware that I would never make disrespectful comments towards any woman. I am trying to figure out how this happened,” she said.
