New Delhi, 17th Feb. The National Commission for Women (NCW) has issued a new hearing date for the creators of the controversial show India’s Got Latent, including YouTubers Ranveer Allahbadia and Samay Raina, after they failed to appear in response to its summons. The women’s panel had summoned the accused, including Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, Apoorva Mukhija, Jaspreet Singh, Ashish Chanchlani, Tushar Poojari, Saurabh Bothra, and Balraj Ghai, to appear before it today at noon.
However, none of the creators showed up, citing concerns over personal safety, travel commitments, and logistical challenges. Ranveer Allahbadia, who had claimed to have received death threats, requested the panel to postpone the hearing by three weeks. As a result, he has been summoned to appear on March 6. Apoorva Mukhija, also raising safety concerns, asked to appear virtually, but her request was denied. She, too, has been ordered to appear in person on March 6.
Producer Balraj Ghai, currently out of India, informed the commission that he would respond once he returned. The commission has rescheduled his hearing for March 11. Producers Tushar Poojari and Saurabh Bothra, who failed to respond to the summons, have drawn sharp criticism from the panel. Both have now been summoned to appear on March 6 as well.
The show India’s Got Latent has come under scrutiny following crass remarks made during an episode, which sparked widespread outrage.
