New Delhi, 31st May: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has extended strong support to the 18 key electoral reforms recently announced by the Election Commission of India (ECI), calling them a landmark step in deepening democratic values.

In a joint statement, S.R. Kohli, National General Secretary, and Brijmohan Shrivastav, Chief National Spokesperson of the NCP, welcomed the reforms, stating that they would boost transparency, accountability, and public participation in the electoral process.

“These reforms will not only improve the accuracy of electoral rolls but also make the overall election machinery more efficient and accessible for the common citizen,” said Kohli.

Highlighting the need for enhanced grassroots training, Shrivastav suggested that Booth Level Agents (BLAs) be mandatorily included in structured pre-election training programs, similar to Booth Level Officers (BLOs). “Booth agents play a crucial role in the democratic exercise. Proper training will equip them to ensure informed voting and fair polling,” he emphasized.

Congratulating the ECI for what he called a “bold and timely initiative,” Shrivastav expressed optimism that these reforms would contribute significantly to the nation-building process, particularly in the run-up to future elections.

The NCP leaders concluded by reiterating their commitment to democratic values and praised the ECI for its proactive approach in reforming India’s electoral landscape.
