In a remarkable display of operational prowess, the Western Seaboard recently witnessed the synchronized maneuvering of eight submarines in the Arabian Sea, showcasing the Indian Navy’s readiness for diverse maritime challenges, officials disclosed on Monday.

According to a statement from the Western Naval Command, Vice Admiral Sanjay J Singh oversaw the exercise firsthand, embarking on the units at sea to evaluate their performance. He lauded the submariners for their professionalism and flawless execution during the exercise.

“In a unique tradition among submariners, Vice Admiral Singh also participated in the ‘bottoming’ of the submarine and tasted the seawater,” the statement noted.

The joint exercise comes in the wake of the Navy’s ongoing efforts to bolster its operational capabilities and enhance maritime security in crucial waterways.

Addressing the media on Saturday, Navy Chief Admiral Hari Kumar highlighted the Navy’s sustained efforts in countering threats such as drone, missile, and piracy attacks in regions like the Gulf of Aden, Arabian Sea, and Red Sea.

“Piracy has reemerged as a significant concern in the region. We are committed to taking proactive measures to thwart such threats,” Admiral Kumar stated.

He also underscored the significance of Operation Sankalp, emphasizing the need for continuous and sustained operations to ensure the safety and stability of maritime routes. Admiral Kumar revealed that the Navy’s operational tempo remains high, with a fleet of 11 submarines and 30 warships deployed across various strategic locations to maintain comprehensive coverage.
