Navjot Singh Sidhu Resigns as Punjab Congress President, Writes to Sonia Gandhi

Chandigarh, 28th Sep. Navjot Singh Sidhu has resigned from the post of Punjab Congress President. Sidhu has resigned from the post of Punjab Pradesh Congress President by writing a letter to Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday. However, Sidhu has clearly written that he will continue in the Congress party.

In his resignation letter to Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Sidhu wrote, ‘I cannot compromise. Compromise kills personality. I cannot compromise with the future of Punjab. Sidhu has resigned after nearly two and a half months of assuming the post of state president.

According to media reports, there were reports of differences between Sidhu and Charanjit Singh Channi, who recently became CM. It is being said that Sidhu was upset for a few days due to Channi not taking advice and consent in important decisions related to work and posting of officers.

 

It is worth mentioning that there has been a change of leadership in Punjab recently. Captain had resigned from the post of CM amid the ongoing dispute with Navjot Singh Sidhu. After which Charanjit Singh Channi was given the command of the province. While publicly expressing his displeasure, the Captain had even said that he would not allow Sidhu to become the CM of Punjab at any cost.
