Nation Mourns Loss of Former PM Manmohan Singh, 7 Days of State Mourning Declared Across India

New Delhi, 27th Dec. The Government of India has expressed profound sorrow over the demise of Dr. Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister of India, who passed away on December 26, 2024, at AIIMS, New Delhi.

As a mark of respect, the government has declared seven days of state mourning from December 26, 2024, to January 1, 2025. During this period, the National Flag will be flown at half-mast across India, including Indian Missions and High Commissions abroad, where it is regularly displayed. Additionally, all official entertainment has been canceled for the duration of the mourning period.

The government has also announced that a state funeral will be accorded to Dr. Manmohan Singh, honoring his remarkable contributions to the nation. On the day of the funeral, the National Flag will remain at half-mast across all Indian Missions and High Commissions worldwide.

Dr. Manmohan Singh served as India’s Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014 and is widely remembered for his role in ushering in economic reforms and liberalization in the early 1990s. His demise marks the end of an era, and the nation mourns the loss of a visionary leader and economist.
