Mumbai, 24th Oct. Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole has confirmed that the final seat-sharing formula for the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance will be announced by Friday morning. Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Patole said that the Congress has already directed some of its candidates, who are assured of tickets, to file their nominations for the upcoming state assembly elections on November 20.
After weeks of discussions, the MVA, comprising the Congress, Sharad Pawar’s NCP (SP), and Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT), announced on Wednesday that each party would contest 85 out of the 288 assembly seats. Talks are still underway to decide on the remaining seats.
Sanjay Raut, a leader from Sena (UBT), hinted at possible seat-swapping among the alliance partners, suggesting that his party could ultimately contest around 100 seats.
When asked about Congress workers projecting him as the chief ministerial candidate, Patole clarified that their primary goal is to bring the MVA to power, adding that the decision on the CM post will be made by the party’s high command.
Patole also weighed in on the controversy surrounding the sale of a 35-acre reserved land parcel in Pune, stating that Maharashtra must be saved, and it is the responsibility of the MVA to ensure that.
