Maharashtra, 7th July. Eknath Shinde, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, has stated that the nomination of Droupadi Murmu, a member of the tribal community, for the position of the nation’s president, is something to be proud of.
After attending a few meetings at the Thane district collectorate on Wednesday, Shinde spoke with reporters here.
He was questioned by some journalists about his opinion of Shiv Sena Lok Sabha member Rahul Shewale’s request to former CM Uddhav Thackeray to ask party MPs to support NDA nominee Murmu in light of her tribal ties and social sector involvement.
“The opportunity to lead the nation has been given to Murmu by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It concerns one’s pride and honour. Having a tribal community member nominated for the position makes me happy as well “said he.
On July 18, a presidential election will take place.
When asked about a photo of him and NCP leader Sharad Pawar that had gone viral on social media, Shinde responded that he hadn’t recently met the veteran politician and that the photo wasn’t even recent.
After becoming the CM, according to Shinde, he had not yet met Pawar.
The CM went on to say that Pawar is a significant leader in the state and the nation and questioned why it was inappropriate to meet him.
“He and I have previously met. I am the chief minister, so we can talk whenever “added he.
Additionally, Shinde claimed that it was a rumor that he had met Pawar on Tuesday.
“My picture with NCP leader Sharad Pawar has gone viral. Such a meeting didn’t take place. Please don’t take rumours seriously “Wednesday saw tweets from Shinde.
