Mumbai, 18th Jan. Mumbai Police has intensified its efforts to capture the man who stabbed actor Saif Ali Khan during a burglary attempt at his Bandra residence. New visuals of the suspect, including CCTV footage of him buying headphones in Dadar, have emerged as the hunt enters its third day.
The intruder, described as a slim, dark-complexioned man in his late thirties, was seen in multiple locations following the attack. Initial footage captured him climbing stairs inside ‘Satguru Sharan,’ the actor’s 12-story residence, and later fleeing the scene. Hours later, he was spotted at Bandra railway station wearing new clothes, and again at a Dadar mobile store.
Khan sustained six injuries, one near his spine, while attempting to fend off the attacker early Thursday morning. He was rushed to a hospital where surgery saved his life. Doctors report that he is recovering well and has begun walking. A nurse in the household, Eliyama Philips, was the first to confront the intruder and has provided a detailed description to the police.
Authorities suspect the attacker scaled a nearby compound wall and used a fire shaft to access and escape from the floor where Khan resides with his wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and their children.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that investigators have gathered significant leads and are confident of apprehending the suspect soon. Despite detaining a man resembling the attacker, police clarified he was not involved in the case.
The incident has sparked a political debate over Mumbai’s safety, with opposition parties raising concerns about law and order. The Chief Minister dismissed such claims, reiterating the city remains secure.
With 30 police teams now dedicated to the investigation, authorities are questioning night-time roamers and individuals with prior police records. The public is urged to report any information that could assist in the ongoing investigation.
