The Punjab Police have arrested yet another person in connection with the death of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, bringing the total number of people detained in the case to three.
Davinder alias Kala was apprehended in Fatehabad, Haryana, on Sunday evening. Two suspects in the killing allegedly stayed with him, according to police sources on Monday.
On June 3, the Punjab Police apprehended two more suspects in Fatehabad, and their roles in Moosewala’s death were being investigated.
The Punjab Police made the first arrest in this case on Tuesday, two days after the killing of Moosewala in Mansa district.
Manpreet Singh, the arrested person, was accused of providing logistical support to the assailants.
Moosewala was killed by unidentified assailants on May 29 in Punjab’s Mansa district, a day after the state government reduced his security cover. The attack also injured his cousin and a friend who were in the jeep with him.
Moosewala was one of 424 people whose security was temporarily withdrawn or reduced by the Punjab Police.
The state police called the incident an inter-gang rivalry and said the Lawrence Bishnoi gang was responsible for the killing. Goldy Brar, a gang member based in Canada, claimed responsibility for the murder.
