New Delhi, 8th June. The Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday released its list of candidates for the upcoming biennial elections to the Legislative Council to be held in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Bihar. UP Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya’s name is also included in the list.
Maharashtra Candidates
The list of candidates from Maharashtra includes Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Pravin Yashwant Darekar, Ram Shankar Shinde, Shrikant Bhartiya, Uma Girish Khapre and Prasad Minesh Lad.
Uttar Pradesh List of Candidates
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday announced nine candidates, including Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, for the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council elections. The names of Keshav Prasad Maurya, Chaudhary Bhupendra Singh, Dayashankar Mishra Dayalu, JPS Rathore, Narendra Kashyap, Jaswant Saini, Danish Azad Ansari, Banwari Lal Dohre and Mukesh Sharma are included in the list of candidates released by the BJP’s central office in New Delhi.
The term of Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya and Panchayati Raj Minister Chaudhary Bhupendra Singh as members of the Legislative Council is ending on July 6. While Minister of State for Cooperatives JPS Rathore, Minister of State for Backward Classes Welfare with independent charge Narendra Kashyap, Minister of State for AYUSH with independent charge Dayashankar Mishra Dayalu, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Industrial Development Jaswant Saini and Minister of State for Minority Welfare Danish Azad Ansari are not yet members of any House.
Bihar Candidate
The BJP has announced its candidates for the Bihar Legislative Council elections. The party has fielded Hari Sahani and Anil Sharma as candidates for the MLC elections. Earlier, BJP’s ally JDU also announced its candidate on Tuesday.
UP Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya’s name also in the list
Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya’s name is also included in the list. He contested from Sirathu assembly seat in Kaushambi in the 2022 assembly elections, but lost the election to Pallavi Patel of the Samajwadi Party. Mukesh Sharma, who is in the list, is the president of BJP Mahanagar Lucknow.
According to information received from the office of the Chief Electoral Officer, the process of elections for 13 seats of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council has begun. According to the office, nominations will be filed by June 9 while on June 10 the nomination papers will be scrutinized. June 13 will be the last date for withdrawal of nominations, while voting will be held on June 20 between 9 am and 4 pm, on the same day the results will be announced.
