New Delhi, 5th March. The Ministry of Coal has announced a significant increase in overall coal production and dispatch during the month of February 2024, marking a remarkable achievement in bolstering the nation’s coal sector.
According to provisional data, coal production surged to 96.60 Million Tonnes (MT) in February 2024, surpassing the previous year’s figure of 86.38 MT by an impressive 11.83%. Coal India Limited (CIL) contributed significantly to this growth, with its production reaching 74.76 MT in February 2024, marking an 8.69% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
The cumulative coal production for the fiscal year 2023-24 has witnessed a substantial rise to 880.72 MT, reflecting a growth rate of 12.14% compared to the corresponding period in the previous fiscal year.
Moreover, coal dispatch witnessed a notable boost in February 2024, reaching 84.78 MT, a significant improvement from the 74.61 MT recorded in February 2023, with a growth rate of 13.63%. CIL’s dispatch performance also demonstrated remarkable progress, reaching 65.3 MT in February 2024, representing a growth of 12.05% compared to February 2023.
The cumulative coal dispatch for the fiscal year 2023-24 has seen a substantial increase to 882.44 MT, showcasing a growth rate of 11.08% compared to the corresponding period in the previous fiscal year.
