Massive Blaze on Jaipur-Ajmer Highway Claims Eight Lives, Leaves Many Injured

Jaipur, 20th Dec. A devastating collision involving a CNG tanker and multiple vehicles turned a section of the Jaipur-Ajmer highway into a fiery scene on Friday morning, claiming at least eight lives and leaving over 40 injured.

The accident occurred around 5:30 am near a petrol pump. According to eyewitness accounts, panic and chaos erupted as flames engulfed vehicles within a 300-meter radius following the explosion. One witness described it as a “frightening scene,” recounting the sight of people running for safety and a man consumed by flames.

The explosion, triggered when a truck collided with the parked CNG tanker, caused a massive fire visible from over a kilometer away, locals reported. CCTV footage showed the tanker erupting in flames, sending thick black smoke billowing into the sky.

Officials stated that the truck involved in the collision was carrying chemicals, adding to the intensity of the blaze. Station House Officer (SHO) of Bhankrota, Manish Gupta, confirmed that several trucks were caught in the inferno, and burn victims were rushed to nearby hospitals. Of the injured, at least 28 are in critical condition, raising fears of a higher death toll.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed his grief over the tragedy, extending condolences to the victims’ families and wishing the injured a swift recovery. In a post on X, Shah stated that the local administration is actively working to provide medical assistance to the injured.

Efforts to ascertain the exact number of vehicles involved and the cause of the collision are underway as authorities continue their investigation into this tragic incident.
