Imphal, 7th July. Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey on Friday visited the relief camp of Manipur Trade & Expo Center at Lamboikhongnangkhong in Imphal West district and interacted with the displaced persons taking shelter there.
A total of 548 displaced persons including 157 children from Kangpokpi, Kakching and Churachandpur districts have been kept in this camp.
The Governor listened to the grievances and difficulties of the people and assured them of all possible help at the earliest.
The Governor inquired about the facilities being provided to the people and directed the district administration to make necessary improvements.
She also asked the Deputy Commissioner to give a detailed report about the facilities being provided to the displaced people in the camp.
Interacting with people at the camp, the governor said, the central and state governments are trying to resolve the issue in every possible way.
As a temporary arrangement, precast houses are being built at various places to accommodate the displaced and until the situation becomes favorable, the displaced will remain in these houses.
Inquiring about the facilities at the camp, the governor asked the district administration to provide television sets, clothes, baby food and essential items for women and children and also to start yoga sessions for the people.
She also directed the district administration to meet the needs of the school going children from the camp.
Talking to media persons after talking to the people in the camp, the governor said, she has come to know the condition of the displaced people who have taken shelter in the camp.
Some of the facilities being provided to the people are good while some other facilities like medicines, sanitation and cooling facilities need to be improved, she said.
As an immediate relief to the people, 1000 (one thousand) will be given to each member of the families in the camp on Monday.It will take time to solve the problem, every possible effort is being made by the central and state governments.
The Governor appealed to all the stakeholders to come forward for dialogue to bring back normalcy and peace as usual in the State through peaceful and amicable dialogue.
