Dr. Jitendra Singh Announces Expedited Road Projects in Udhampur Constituency

New Delhi, 18th June. In a significant development for infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh announced the approval and expedited review of key road projects, including national projects in the Udhampur Lok Sabha constituency. Addressing the media in Srinagar, Dr. Singh expressed his gratitude to Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari, for approving numerous proposals and suggestions.
A major highlight is the Chhatergala tunnel project, estimated at around Rs. 4000 crore, to be executed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). Additionally, the construction of underpasses along the Kathua Express corridor will be prioritized where demanded by the public.
Dr. Singh elaborated on the new national highway from Lakhanpur to Basohli-Bani to Bhaderwah-Doda, which will include the Chhatergala tunnel. He emphasized that this highway will ensure all-weather connectivity and significantly boost business, employment, and revenue in the region by connecting Lakhanpur to district Doda through tourist spots like Basohli and Bani.
Regarding the Delhi-Katra express corridor, Dr. Singh highlighted the project’s near completion and the inclusion of underpasses at key locations for public convenience. He also mentioned the expedited work on the Kishtwar Chatru national highway section, providing alternative road connectivity.
Expressing his appreciation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s allocation of major highway projects to his constituency, Dr. Singh noted the progress on the Chenani-Sudhmahadev national highway and the new national highway via Khileni to Goha, which will connect several local villages.
Dr. Singh also acknowledged the focus on significant projects like the Srinagar-Sonamarg section, Zojila tunnel, Jammu Rajouri highway, and the ring roads of Srinagar and Jammu, underlining the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir.
