‘Mahaul’ Favors Us, but We Must Work Unitedly: Sonia Gandhi to Congress Leaders

New Delhi, 31st July. With assembly elections in key states approaching, Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi emphasized the need for her party to maintain the momentum and goodwill gained from the recent Lok Sabha elections.

Speaking to the Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) on Wednesday, Gandhi acknowledged the favorable public mood but cautioned against complacency and overconfidence.

Gandhi slammed the Modi government for allegedly failing to learn from their significant decline in the Lok Sabha elections and for continuing policies that she claimed foster division and fear.

She highlighted the Supreme Court’s intervention in staying orders by the Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand governments related to the Kanwar Yatra route, which she described as a temporary respite.

Further, Gandhi condemned changes in regulations that allow the bureaucracy to engage with the RSS, which she referred to as the BJP’s political and ideological base. She urged party leaders to work unitedly and with purpose, emphasizing that a strong performance in the upcoming state elections could transform national politics.

Her comments come as elections are scheduled in Haryana, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, and possibly Jammu and Kashmir later this year.

Gandhi also criticized the Union Budget, claiming it has failed to address the pressing needs of farmers and youth, and accused the government of being out of touch with the struggles faced by many families due to rising unemployment and inflation.
