MADHYA PRADESH: STATE WITH HIGHEST NUMBER OF LEOPARDS IN INDIA

After getting the status of Tiger state Madhya Pradesh has now come first in the number of leopards. The figures have been released by the Union Ministry the previous day.

It must be noted that on Monday, the Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate change have released figures of leopard counts in the country. According to it the maximum number of leopards have been found in Madhya Pradesh and it stands at 3421, in Karnataka the number of leopards is 1783 and in Maharashtra the number stands at 1690. The increase in the number of tigers, lions and leopards in the last few years is a testimony to the betterment of wildlife and biodiversity. India now has 12852 leopards. Their number has increased by record 60%.

The highest number of tigers in the country is in the state of Madhya Pradesh. According to the National Tiger Assessment Report 2018, Madhya Pradesh has the highest number of 526 tigers in the country.
