Madhya Pradesh on High Alert: Police Leaves Cancelled, Public Gatherings Curbed

GG News Bureau
Bhopal, 9th May:
In the wake of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan following Operation Sindoor, the Madhya Pradesh government on Friday cancelled all leaves of police personnel across the state and intensified internal security measures.

A circular issued by the Madhya Pradesh Police Headquarters (PHQ) stated that all sanctioned and pending police leaves stand cancelled with immediate effect. All district Superintendents of Police (SPs) have been alerted to remain on high readiness for any emergency situation.

Director General of Police Kailash Makwana is scheduled to conduct a video conference with SPs later in the day to assess the internal security situation and issue strategic instructions.

Heightened Vigil and Public Restrictions in Indore

In Indore, authorities have imposed prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). Police Commissioner Santosh Kumar Singh has banned all public gatherings — religious, political, or social — without prior permission. The order also prohibits carrying arms, ammunition, or any items deemed hazardous in public and private events, including weddings and processions.

Violators will face strict action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), officials said. The prohibitory order will remain in effect until July 4, and patrolling has been stepped up at the district level.

Cyber Surveillance Intensified

Cyber police are monitoring social media and messaging platforms to detect and counter disinformation, particularly as Pakistan-linked entities continue to flood the digital space with false narratives following failed airstrikes and India’s counter-operations.

Nationwide Alert

Similar security measures have been implemented in other states, including Punjab and Haryana, where police leaves have also been cancelled. Border states remain on high alert as tensions with Pakistan show no signs of de-escalating.
