Bhopal, 17th Nov. A Congress candidate’s aide was killed on Friday during a clash in the Rajnagar constituency of Madhya Pradesh on the day of the assembly elections.
There were also reports of clashes in other parts of the state.
Five people were injured in a skirmish in the Mhow area of Indore district, and two men were wounded in a clash in Morena district.
The Superintendent of Police in Chhatarpur, Amit Sanghi, stated that supporters of two political leaders faced off in Raj Nagar causing death of one person named Salman.
The Congress candidate, Vikram Singh, claimed that Salman used to drive for him, while the BJP nominee, Arvind Pateria, called it a conspiracy and demanded a judicial probe.
In order to ensure peaceful elections in the Sumawali assembly constituency, the police asked the candidates from BJP, Congress, and BSP to sit together.
Morena Superintendent of Police, Shailendra Singh, clarified that this was a common practice.
Earlier, a clash between two groups was reported in Mirdhan village, where two people were injured. However, reports of firing and bullet injuries were inaccurate.
In another incident, five men were injured in a fight between two groups in Manglia village. Additionally, in the Jhabua constituency, a security guard of the Congress candidate was injured when stones were thrown at them.
