LS to Discuss No-Confidence Motion on Aug 8-9; PM Modi to Reply on August 10

New Delhi, 2nd Aug. The debate on the no-confidence motion against the BJP-led government is expected to take place in the Lok Sabha on August 8 and 9, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi slated to respond on August 10, according to sources.

Last Monday, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla accepted a no-confidence motion brought by opposition parties belonging to the I.N.D.I.A.

After days of protest over their demand for a detailed discussion on violence in Manipur and a statement from the Prime Minister, the opposition filed a no-confidence motion.

On July 26, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi filed a no-confidence motion on behalf of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (I.N.D.I.A) alliance.

After the motion was admitted, the Speaker said that the day and time of the debate will be decided later.

The government had said it is ready for debate on the no-confidence motion on the time decided by the Speaker.
