Ranchi, 30th Sept. Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) President Chirag Paswan said on Sunday that the LJP will contest the Jharkhand Assembly elections, though he did not clarify whether the party would go solo or enter into a coalition. He mentioned that all options are under consideration for their electoral strategy.

This announcement comes a day after Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma declared that the BJP would contest the Jharkhand elections in alliance with its partners, the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) and the Janata Dal (United) [JD(U)].

The LJP (Ram Vilas) is part of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) at the Centre. Speaking at Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi, Chirag Paswan said that the LJP has a strong base in Jharkhand.

He noted, “When I was born, Jharkhand was part of united Bihar. It has been the workplace of my father, and the party has established a robust support system in the state. Hence, it has been decided that the party will contest the upcoming Assembly elections.”

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sarma stated on Saturday, “BJP will contest the Jharkhand elections in alliance with AJSU and JD(U). We have reached an agreement on 99 percent of the seats with our allies. Discussions are ongoing for one or two remaining seats, and a decision will be made soon.”

Sarma also mentioned that a formal announcement regarding the alliance would be made after the ‘Pitripaksha’ period, which ends on October 2. The elections for Jharkhand’s 81-member Assembly are scheduled to take place by the end of this year.
