Liberal Party Revokes Chandra Arya’s Nomination for Nepean

Ottawa: The Liberal Party of Canada has revoked the nomination of Chandra Arya, the sitting Member of Parliament for Nepean, Ontario. The decision was made following a review prompted by undisclosed “new information,” according to party officials.

Arya, who has represented Nepean since 2015, expressed his disappointment over the move. In a statement shared on social media, he said, “While this news is deeply disappointing, it does not diminish the profound honour and privilege it has been to serve the people of Nepean.”

The party’s National Campaign Co-Chair recommended the revocation after a thorough assessment, though details regarding the new information have not been disclosed. This action follows the party’s earlier decision to exclude Arya from its leadership race nearly two months ago.

Arya has been known for his strong stance against Khalistani elements in Canada, raising speculation about the political ramifications of the party’s decision. The Liberal Party has yet to announce a replacement candidate for the Nepean riding.
