Patna, 19th Sept. RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav has strongly criticized the NDA government for its handling of a recent arson attack in Nawada district, Bihar. On Thursday, Yadav claimed that law and order in the state had completely broken down under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s administration.
The criticism came in response to an incident where 21 houses were set ablaze in Manjhi Tola, Nawada. The violence, which occurred on Wednesday evening, is believed to have stemmed from a land dispute. Following the attack, police arrested 15 individuals. Preliminary reports suggest that the arrested individuals are predominantly from a particular caste and are alleged supporters of the RJD, as claimed by Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi.
Yadav condemned Manjhi’s remarks, accusing him of misleading the public. “Jitan Ram Manjhi is completely misled and he is trying to mislead the people of the country. I will find out what has happened there. Law and order has collapsed completely in the state,” Yadav stated.
In response to the incident, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has condemned the attacks and directed the Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) to personally oversee the investigation. Nawada District Magistrate Ashutosh Kumar Verma confirmed that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to probe the matter further, with ongoing searches to apprehend any remaining suspects.
Verma reported that out of 34 houses set on fire, 21 were completely destroyed and 13 partially damaged. Senior administrative and police officials are currently assessing the full extent of the damage.
